COUNSELING CONTACT INFORMATION:
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years experience working with children and families. I am here at SPN Monday through Friday from 8:30-3:00. My SPN telephone number is 655-0008. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
In case of a mental health emergency, you can always call 211, Jefferson Parish Mobile Crisis at 832-5123, or of course, 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
HOW TO BE REFERRED FOR COUNSELING:
If any student is having any problems, please do not hesitate to contact me. Students can ask to see me themselves, ask their parents to contact me, or ask their teachers. Parents and teachers can email me, fill out a referral form in the office, or call
me at 655-0008 or the front office at 887-5600.
I will facilitate several support groups organized by grade level, centering around various topics such as divorce issues and socialization. Please feel free to call to inquire about participation in such groups.
I will periodically visit student classrooms throughout the school year addressing topics such as peer mediation, bullying, coping skills, stress management, diversity/accepting differences, and empathy. Periodically, we have guest speakers like Mercy Family Center or the FBI come talk to the children about bullying and cyber safety. If you would like a particular topic addressed with your child's class, please feel free to contact me.
SPN was lucky enough to have Kirk Martin come speak to the faculty and parents several years ago about positive parenting. His website, celebratecalm.com, is a wonderful resource. In addition, SPN purchased a set of Positive Parenting CD's that you can check out from the counseling department. Please call for more information.
Please check out my pages for more information on educational evaluation resources, outside counseling referrals, speech information, bullying resources, and parenting information.
